SEGUIRIYA

from MURDER CALL by DUFFHUES

/

about

Seguiriya is probably the oldest form of flamenco music, and lyricly goes back to the immigration of gypsys, hundreds of years ago, from Rajastan to southern Spain and other places where they nowadays live. It's a deep form of lyrics and music, and it's about death, love, mystery, and in that way it's close to the blues.

lyrics

SEGUIRIYA

I woke up this morning
in the crap and mud
I woke up this morning
in the shit and mud
my head is all fog
and the taste of dirt

lay me in the ground
when the cork is done
lay me in the ground
when the cork is done
life is miserable
when the wine is gone

the sound of the seguiriya
sharpens spirit and sense
the sound of the seguiriya
sharpens spirit and sense
without that magic drink
I would be dead and gone

on the bridge's edge
the cold water lured
on the bridge's edge
the cold water lured
I fell backwards
spin and roll in the dirt

I cling onto stones
let me stay dear lord
I cling onto stones
let me stay dear lord
the devil is pulling my hair
my fate is sealed, and sold
