The Trial

The bench was set up under the tree
In its shadow the Judge spoke loud and clear
Of a world beyond the one of blood and stone
In that world there stood a different throne

There were no suspects, no victims yet
None guilty, none punished, not just yet
All villagers gathered on the square
The Judge ordered no one could leave

They where all guilty ‘till proven wrong
They’d all be trialled, no exceptions
They’d all be condemned as murderers
And all would be hanged ‘till decided further

The whip, the cane, the rope
The trial, punishment and death

The Judge hammered the court into recess
No one was allowed to leave the place
Soon the talking and discussions began
The finger-pointing, the accusations

All but one, and one but all
The scapegoat, the sucker, the fool, the bum
The offer to save the children
The unwanted and expendable son
Young or old, with parents gone
A white raven, a lone wolf, a smoking gun
A pain in the ass, a black dove
There must be such a man
And all know who that is
His name is......
